Raku Vase

This vase has truly been through the pits of hell and back and lived to tell the tale. Raku is a traditional Japanese method of firing ceramic. Once a piece has been bisqued, slipped, glazed, or not glazed it's fired at ~1650  °F until red hot, then placed in a container with organic material and covered to cut out the oxygen. This process achieves wicked carbon / metallic / crackle effects unique to the Raku process. 

 *Note Raku is not guaranteed to be water tight
